Grant number: RED2024-153955-T
Grant reference: financiada por MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033
The AIPSR network aims to create a multidisciplinary collaboration among leading Spanish research groups in political and social sciences focused on artificial intelligence (AI). The network includes scholars analyzing the economic, social, and political implications of AI, its regulatory frameworks, and the use of machine learning (ML) and large language models (LLMs) in empirical research. Activities will include research seminars, national and international conferences, summer schools, and the development of evidence-based policy briefs. These outputs will target policymakers and the general public to bridge the gap between academic research and policy implementation.
The key objectives of the network include fostering interdisciplinary debate; producing empirical evidence on AI’s societal impacts; and advancing methodological guidelines for the use of generative AI in social science research. AIPSR will emphasize training for PhD and Master's students and create open educational materials.
The initiative addresses a growing need for rigorous, empirically grounded research on the societal dimensions of AI in Spain. By aggregating dispersed expertise, AIPSR aims to enhance Spain’s research capacity, influence public policy, and ensure responsible AI governance.
